Drinking Vinegar Softens the Body Vinegar is believed to have various drinking effects today, but 500 years ago it was believed to be effective for weight loss and to soften the bones and body. In fact, when the body is hardened by lactic acid accumulated due to fatigue and stress, drinking vinegar breaks down the lactic acid and allows the body to regain flexibility. Vinegar does indeed have a variety of health benefits. The amino acids in vinegar have a beneficial effect on moisturizing and firming, and support skin turnover and the prevention of body fat gain. However, as it turns out, there is no scientific basis for the original change in flexibility. So, there is no relationship between body flexibility and vinegar.

Crime & Punishment: An Opinion -- Pete

Here is my response to question II: "Is prison an effective deterrent against crime?"  It is undeniable that one coin has two sides, but how do people look at one coin? Some might notice it’s just a coin. Some might look only one side. Some might look both sides head and tail. As same as laws, laws have been developed by us human in order to maintain their beloved social system. However, that is just one side of laws, and the other sides can be used as opposite way. Do you believe in justice? Someone might do whilst someone might not. A reason is both simple and complicated at the same time because people with different backgrounds have a hard time to acknowledge one another. That’s why we human needs a tool to protect ourselves and maintain our peace. Anyway, this tool has been used many times to take advantage. Laws aren’t perfect as same as human, but have people ever tried to understand one another? How many more times we intend to keep hurting one another? How many more ...

I choose topic 5A.2 "Is prison an effective deterrent against crime?". In my opinion, prison can be an effective deterrent against crime. Some people say prisons are meaningless. However, if that were really the case, there wouldn't be so many prisons in the world in the first place. Some people do not commit crimes because they do not want to go to prison. I believe that people's morals and the presence of prisons act as a deterrent to crime.

A Holiday Snapshot -- Ayano Yoshiike

I took this memorable photo last Sunday. The dog in the middle of the picture is my host family dog, Storm. The place that I took this photo is Saint Clair in which I live. I chose this one because that picture shows my great memory. Before coming to New Zealand, I had decided some of my lists that I had always wanted to achieve. One of them was going for a walk with a dog because I like dogs even though I have never had a dog in my life.  I knew that my host family had a dog, thereby, I was hoping to do that. However, Storm is a literally big, strong  dog so it was significantly difficult for me to take him for a walk. On top of that, at first, I was a little bit nervous around him due to his appearance and his strength. Though I was afraid of him, I was getting used to being with him. In addition to that, I became stronger and I came to be a person who is  willing to do new things. Thus, I decided to take him for a stroll. I was a little bit nervous about it but m...
