A Commonly Held Perception -- Masateru Yamahata
Drinking Vinegar Softens the Body
Vinegar is believed to have various drinking effects today, but 500 years ago it was believed to be effective for weight loss and to soften the bones and body. In fact, when the body is hardened by lactic acid accumulated due to fatigue and stress, drinking vinegar breaks down the lactic acid and allows the body to regain flexibility.
Vinegar does indeed have a variety of health benefits. The amino acids in vinegar have a beneficial effect on moisturizing and firming, and support skin turnover and the prevention of body fat gain. However, as it turns out, there is no scientific basis for the original change in flexibility. So, there is no relationship between body flexibility and vinegar.
How interesting! I'd heard of vinegar being used for weight loss, but not flexibility. I also didn't realise how long-standing this commonly held perception was. Thanks for the illuminating post, Masateru :)
