 I choose topic 5A.2 "Is prison an effective deterrent against crime?". In my opinion, prison can be an effective deterrent against crime. Some people say prisons are meaningless. However, if that were really the case, there wouldn't be so many prisons in the world in the first place. Some people do not commit crimes because they do not want to go to prison. I believe that people's morals and the presence of prisons act as a deterrent to crime.

About me Masateru Yamahata

 My name is Masateru Yamahata. I am from Nagoya. It is located in the middle of Japan. Nagoya is one of the biggest cities in Japan. There are a lot of sightseeing spots. I am 21 years old. I live with my parents and little sister. I also live with my dog that a white toy poodle. I'm a student at Meijo University. At university I learn communication and how to teach and learn second language. My hobby is playing the drums. I'm a member of the band club in my university. I often play Japanese pos and rock music. I have been playing the drums since I joined the band club in my high school. These days, I started playing the guitars and basses. Both are very difficult but enjoyable. It's a great change of pace. I need to practice drumming more, but it is difficult to stay motivated.  I was an ESTJ on the personality test. That personality tended to be responsible, hardworking, and liked to be represented. I don't think that fits me very well. I don't think it is a good match for me because I am not very responsible and I don't really want to do things on behalf of others.
